Transmission Service
The transmission fluid in your transmission, is similar to the oil in your vehicle, over time it can gather deposits from dirt and dust. To keep your transmission running at top performance and efficiency changing the fluid can help prevent wear and tear on the transmission and will promote smoother shift operation and improved performance.
Our trained technicians will:
• Transmission fluid evaluation
• Remove old transmission fluid and replace with new
Cooling System Service
Your vehicle’s radiator is the heart of its cooling system. To function properly, your radiator must be clean, free of leaks, clear of blockages and filled with proper coolant.
Our trained technicians will:
1. Coolant system evaluation
2. Inspection of all hoses
3. Removal and replacement of virtually all of the old coolant
Fuel Injection Service
Fuel injection cleaning removes deposits from the fuel injection nozzle which clears the way and helps to reduce engine hesitation, increases horsepower, improves emissions and fuel efficiency and repairs performance concerns.
1. Improves fuel efficiency
2. Increases horse power
3. Repairs performance concerns
Differential / Transfer Case Services
The drivetrain serves two functions: it transfers power evenly from the engine to all drive wheels and it varies the amount of torque. The drivetrain may include the differential, a transfer case (in four-wheel and all-wheel drive cars) and the transmission (see Transmission Services).
Our trained technicians will:
1. Remove old differential and or transfer case fluid
2. Replaced with new fluid that contains the correct additives to help keep the seals, gears, and bearings operating properly.
3. New fluid is added according to owner’s manual recommendations.
A/C EVAC and Recharge
We can help you keep your car cool when the weather heats up with our A/C Recharge Service. Our trained technicians will: 1. Visually inspect the air conditioning compressor drive belt for damage 2. Visually inspect accessible components for leaks or damage 3. Check the operation of the air conditioning compressor and other air conditioning components 4. Remove refrigerant from the A/C system 5. Vacuum test the system 6. Recharge the air conditioning system using the appropriate refrigerant according to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications.
Serpentine Belt Replacement
A serpentine belt is a relatively long, flat, multi-ribbed belt that is driven by the engine’s crankshaft pulley. The belt drives many, and often all, of the engine accessories such as the alternator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, water pump, and air pump.
When to consider replacing the serpentine belt:
• Regularly scheduled maintenance. Typically, belt manufacturers recommend belt replacement at 90,000 miles. However, the belt must be inspected for wear or damage at regular intervals prior to this high mileage. Brittain’s Express Oil and Lube always checks your serpentine belt as part of our 18 point Brittain’s Wellness Check. We will let you know if your belt needs replacing. We carry most belt types and sizes.
• Squealing noise, belt slippage, visible belt damage. Should the belt fail or wear out prematurely, you may hear noise or you may see visible signs of deterioration such as missing chunks of rubber, excessive cracking, or a shredded appearance on the edge of the belt.
• Battery Light. A loose belt, perhaps caused by a defective tensioner, may not drive the alternator at adequate speed and thus the battery may discharge, causing the warning light to illuminate.
• Engine overheating. Often, the serpentine belt drives the water pump. In those applications, if the belt breaks the engine will overheat in seconds to minutes. If the belt is inadequately tensioned, you may notice higher-than-normal engine operating temperature.
