Fluid Top Off
Windshield Washer Fluid
At Brittain’s we always check and top off your windshield washer fluid. During winter months, we recommend a solution that is rated to 20 below zero to keep it from freezing on your windshield
Our trained technicians will:
1. Remove old differential and or transfer case fluid
2. Replaced with new fluid that contains the correct additives to help keep the seals, gears, and bearings operating properly.
3. New fluid is added according to owner’s manual recommendations.
Antifreeze
The radiator in your vehicle cools your engine and needs water and coolant (antifreeze) to function. We check and top off antifreeze with each visit.
Power Steering
You can exhibit a number of symptoms when the level of power steering fluid is low in the reservoir. If you are experiencing any of the following problems with your car's power steering, you have us check your fluid levels.
• Noisy steering
• Jerky or jumpy power steering
• Hard to turn the steering wheel
• Screeching steering
• Puddle or stains under the vehicle
Brake Fluid
Brake fluid provides hydraulic pressure to actuate your brake system's pistons and provide braking.
Brittain’s checks your brake fluid as part of our 18 point inspection. We will let you know if your brake fluid needs changing. You should have your brake fluid changed if the pedal feels “spongy,” or if the brake lines are ever opened up during service. At Brittain’s we examine the brake fluid—it should be yellowish and translucent. If it looks dirty or contaminated, it’s probably due for a change.
Clutch Fluid
Brittain’s checks your clutch fluid as part of our 18 point inspection. We will let you know if your clutch fluid needs changing.
If your clutch has been feeling “spongy” or doesn’t want to fully engage or disengage, you should let Brittain’s know and we will check the fluid levels.
Cooling System Service
Your vehicle’s radiator is the heart of its cooling system. To function properly, your radiator must be clean, free of leaks, clear of blockages and filled with proper coolant.
Our trained technicians will:
1. Coolant system evaluation
2. Inspection of all hoses
3. Removal and replacement of virtually all of the old coolant
Transmission Fluid
Automatic transmissions have been known to operate smoothly for thousands of miles, which is why it is usually taken for granted by car owners. However, given its limited lifespan, it runs out one day and the resultant friction in the system hinders with the smooth functioning of the car. At Brittain’s we always check transmission fluid levels during our 18 point oil change inspection.
